Legacy

Paul Bogle is a National Hero of Jamaica, recognized for his leadership in the 1865 Morant Bay Rebellion[1][5]. He was a Baptist deacon and a successful landowner, who used his influence to fight for justice, fair treatment, and improved living conditions for the people of Jamaica[1][2][4][5]. Despite the violent aftermath of the rebellion, which led to his execution, Bogle’s actions paved the way for significant social and economic reforms[5]. His face has been featured on the Jamaican two-dollar bill and 10-cent coin[9]. The Paul Bogle High School in the parish of his birth is named after him[1]. His legacy is celebrated annually on Paul Bogle Day in Jamaica[8].
