Mentuhotep II, also known as Nebhepetre, was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, the sixth ruler of the Eleventh Dynasty. He is credited with reuniting Egypt, marking the beginning of the Middle Kingdom. He was the son of Intef III and Iah. His reign, from approximately 2008 until 1957 BCE, was marked by significant achievements, including military conquests and architectural innovations. He had several wives, including Tem, Neferu, and Henhenet, and his successor was his son, Sankhkare Mentuhotep III.
