Debbie Allen is an American actress, dancer, choreographer, singer-songwriter, television director, and producer. She gained fame for her role as Lydia Grant in the television series “Fame,” for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy and two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography. Allen’s career spans over five decades, starting in 1968, and she has been active in various facets of the entertainment industry since then.Allen’s contributions to the arts extend beyond her performances. She served as a member of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities and has directed and produced numerous television shows and films. In 2001, Allen opened the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Los Angeles, where she teaches young dancers.
